Pop Up Panel Card

I have had this idea for a little while and originally wanted just the butterfly to pop up but this one has messed with my mind and I just have not been able to get the dimensions right for you to not be able to see the mechanism. So back to the drawing board and I created this sort of floating pop up card instead

Card Making Instructions

I begun with a sheet of card measuring 10 by 7 inch and this was scored on the long side at the 5 inch point. Folded and burnished to create the card base

Mats were cut measuring 4 3/4 by 6 3/4 in shocking pink. While patterned paper was cut to create the layer measuring 4 1/2 by 6 1/2. I chose to keep one of these plain so I could write my message. These were glued onto the card base

The largest top floating panel measures 6 inch by 3 inch with a mat which measures 5 3/4 by 2 3/4. These were glued together and the butterfly die cut in pink card and the intricate part in vellum. These were glued into the centre of the largest pop out panel

The smaller pop up panel measures 4 inch by 2 inch with the glitter card mat measuring 3 3/4 by 1 3/4 inch.

To create the pop up mechanisms I used 3 pieces of card measuring 2 inch by 1 1/2 inch. On the short side this was scored down the middle at 3/4 inch. On the long side it was scored at 3/4 and 1 1/4 inch. From the centre point to the corner of the first score line, diagonal score lines were created. From the centre of the second score line to the outer corners diagonal scores were also created. Please see the video for clarity.

These were folded as the picture below

The folded in part had glue put on to it

These were then adhered onto the folded section of the pop up panels. It is important to ensure that you have them the right way around. The top panel with pop up and the bottom one will pop down so ensure you have these on the same way as in the picture

The sentiment was heat embossed and fussy cut out before being adhered onto the lower panel using foam tape
