Showstopper Display Card

This show stopper display card will certainly have a pride of place on the mantelpiece. It looks much more complicated to create than it is! It will fit in a standard 8 x 8 envelope and required no speciality dies

This is day 12 of the 12 days of christmas series and the video can be found here

Card Making Instructions

Begin with 2 sheets of card measuring 10 1/2 x 7 inch.

On the long edge mark in 1/2 inch and from the opposite bottom corner mark up 3 1/2 inch. Draw a line between the 2 and cut this away

These want scoring at 2, 3 3/8th, 5, 7, 8 3/8th and 10 inch keeping the shortest edge on the left hand side

Score diagonally between the top corner of the 2 inch and 5 inch score lines and the 7 and 10 inch score lines

Keeping the short edge on the left fold the vertical scores as mountain, mountain, valley, mountain, mountain, valley

Fold the diagonals as valleys and nip the vertical score in the middle of the cross together to get it into shape. See video for clarity.

Then join the 2 together with a piece of card measuring 2 by 7 inch

To create the mats and layers you need to cut a square measuring:

3 3/4 x 1 3/4 and mark up one edge to 3 1/4. Draw a line from corner to mark and cut away

For the layer you need it to measure

3 1/2 x 1 1/2 and the mark needs to be at 3

The larger ones measure

5 1/2 by 1 3/4 2ith a mark at 5

5 1/4 by 1 1/2 with a mark at 4 3/4

The middle panel was decorated with glitter card measuring 1 3/4 by 6 3/4

To create the various triangles. you need a piece for the mat that measures 4 1/2 x 2 1/2 with the slant to 3 3/4.

Draw corner to corner and then vertically straight through the centre of the cross

The layer needs a piece measuring 2 x 4 with the mark at 3 1/4

For the larger ones the mat is

6 1/2 by 2 1/2 with the mark at 5 1/2

while the layer is

2 x 6 with the mark at 5

These were adhered on

The images were stamped, coloured and fussy cut out before been stuck onto the card base using foam tape for dimension
