Pull Flap Card

I am about to become an Auntie twice!!! My sister is having a girl and my brother a boy!! How lucky are we? I wanted to try something a little different for my sisters card. Baby girl was not here when I made the card and the name is a closely guarded secret so not quite as personalised as I would have liked. But it was the summer holidays and we were about to go away and so I needed to be prepared

There is of course a video up for you on my YouTube Channel

Card Making Instructions

I begun by creating the card base. To do this I took a sheet of card which measured 5 3/4 x 11 1/2 inch. This was scored along the long edge at 5 3/4 and folded to create a 5 3/4 square card base

I decorated the front of this using

Mats measuring 5 1/2 by 5 1/2

Layers measuring 5 1/4 by 5 1/4

This was placed to one side to dry so I could work on the mechanism.

To begin the mechanism you need a piece of card measuring 2 1/2 by 6 inch. On the long edge score this at 1/2, 1, 2 1/2, 3 1/4, 5 and 5 1/2

Now between the 1 inch score line and the 2 3/4 inch score line score every 1/8th inch. Do the same between the 3 1/4 and 5 inch score lines. Then gently fold each 1/8th so that it is a mountain. This is to help to tease the paper into a sort of arch shape

Place this to one side and grab a piece of card measuring 5 by 3 3/4. Make a light pencil mark both top and bottom on the 5 inch edge at 1 1/4 and 3 3/4

Go back to your scored piece of mechanism and place glue in the gap between score line 3 1/4 and 5. This wants to be glued to the piece of card in the step above. It needs to sit between the pencil lines and the second score line both top and bottom should be in line with the top and bottom of the 5 by 3 3/4 panel. (See video for clarity)

Flip this over so the gled part is now on the underside. You now need to place glue on the second panel from the top. This will be between score lines 1/2 and 1 inch

In line with the 1/2 inch score line glue a piece of card measuring 3 3/4 by 3 1/2. So that it sits in the centre

Turn the panel back over so the piece you have just glued is now facing downwards. Push the mechanism up so that is directly in front of the piece you glued last. Place glue in the same gap, so between the 1/2 and 1 inch mark

Add a second piece of card measuring 3 3/4 by 3 1/2, lined up with first piece you attached

I added 3 layers of foam tape to either side of the mechanism. If you choose not to use nuvo drops you will only need 2 layers.

Turn down both the tabs that are left unglued (See video for clarity) so they are both facing downwards and add glue to each individually.

Onto this add a sheet of card which measures 2 1/2 by 5 1/2

That is the mechanism all completed now just to decorate!

For the Mats and layers in the centre piece I used papers measuring

4 3/4 by 3 1/2

4 1/2 by 3 1/4

The dies are from the Baby Die Set

For the top flip panel this is the one that is on show when the card is displayed I used papers measuring

3 1/2 by 3 1/4

3 1/4 by 3

The stamps are from the baby surprise set

The decorations for the panel under this one measure

2 3/4 by 3 1/2

2 1/2 by 3 1/4

Pull the mechanism so that you can see the next panel and the measurements for decoration for this are

2 3/4 by 3 1/2
2 1/2 by 3 1/4

The last flip panel measurements are
3 1/2 by 3 1/4
3 1/4 by 3

Wile the decoration for the pull tab measures

Mats 2 1/4 by 4 3/4
Layers 2 by 4 1/2

The die is from the Baby Die Set and the PULL from the push me pull you sentiment set

This was then adhered onto the card base using the foam tape

Thank you for reading
