This card was inspired by a hammock style gatefold that seems to be pretty popular on social media platforms at the moment. I wanted to create a diamond shaped one that would pop from the card base. I am in the process of making a double and a triple hammock card too so watch this space.
There is of course a video on my YouTube channel

Cardmaking instructions
To create the card base you need a sheet of card measuring 11 by 7 and you want to score this at 1/2, 3, 8 and 10 1/2. Fold this as a mountain, valley, valley, mountain
The Mats and layers for the centre panel measure
4 3/4 by 6 3/4
4 1/2 by 6 1/2. I used the embossing folder for this paper.
The smaller panels mesure
2 1/4 by 6 3/4
2 by 6 1/2 ( this is the digital download paper from the creative stamping magazine
The diamond panel was creating using a piece of card measuring 9 inch by 4 inch. This was scored at 1/2, 2 1/2, 6 1/2 and 8 1/2. The card was marked at 4 1/2 inch. The panel was then scored from the 4 1/2 inch mark to the bottom corner of the 1/2 inch score lines. See diagram and video for clarity.
The diagonal lines were folded as mountains and the vertical lines between them as valleys. Mats and layers were applied to the diamond. These measure
2 1/2 by 2 1/2
2 1/4 by 2 1/4
2 pieces of card were cut 4 1/2 by 4 inch. These were both scored at 1/2 and 2 1/2
These were glued onto the tabs on the diamond panel
The panels were decorated with mats and layers measuring
1 3/4 by 3 3/4
1 1/2 by 3 1/2
The large card base was marked o the 1/2 inch tab and 1 1/2 inch and 5 1/2 inch to offer a guide to glue the diamond panel too.
I love this card! I just made it following these instructions (not the video) and the card base should be 11 x 7. I followed the 11 x 5 and all the rest of your measurements are for a 7 inch height. Thanks for the tutorial!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for pointing out it is a typo on my part. I have corrected it now you are correct the first piece of card should be 11 x 7 to create a 5x7 card
