Display Gatefold Card

This gorgeous design is a real showstopper of a card and is not that difficult to make, requiring little experience and no die machine for the actual card base.

There is of course a video up on my YouTube channel explaining how to create the card base

Card Making Instructions

Begin with 2 sheets of card measuring 11 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch and one sheet measuring 5 1/2 x 5 1/2 inch.

Score the 2 large sheets along the long edge at 2 3/4, 5 1/2, 8 1/4 and 11 inch

Keeping the card in the same orientation fold from the left side as mountain, valley, mountain, valley

Using the small tabs you have created, glue these behind the 5 1/2 by 5 1/2 card from the previous step

Cut 8 Matts measuring 2 1/2 by 5 1/4 and 1 measuring 5 1/4 by 5 1/4. I chose 2 different papers for my layers. These need to measure 2 1/4 by 5 (X8) and 5 by 5 (X1). These were glued on

Set the circle cutter to 2 inch and cut out 6 circles, Put 2 to one side but with the remaining for score at 2 inch and 2 1/4 inch. Then trim away the excess after the 2 1/4 score line.

With 1 of the remaining circles cut at the 2 inch mark

Set the circle cutter to 1 3/4 inch and cut 4 matts and then adjust to 1 1/2 and cut 3 layers. 3 of the matts and all the layers then need cutting at the half way mark and these need adhering onto the parts made in the step above

Using the tabs adhere these onto the middle of every second side panel

Using the remaining full circles and ephemera from Papercraft Society Box 59 I created the sentiment panel in the middle panel of the card base

This should leave just 2 half circles left. These are added onto the front 2 panels flush

A fox and a squirrel were die cut out and added to the front

I then cut 4 pieces of card which measure 1/2 inch by 2 1/2 inch. These were scored at 1/2 and 2 inch and glue applied to the 2 tabs before being added to the back of the floating circles to add stability when opening
