I have wanted to create a double fold diamond card that I could get out of a sheet of A4 paper for a long long time but I have really struggled getting the measurements right. I have however final cracked it. So here are the measurements so you can craft along too. This one may be easier to follow on my YouTube Channel and I will put the link in this blog post.
Card Making Supplies:-
Blue A4 Card
Glitter card Stock
Stamping Paper
Ruler
Pencil
Distress Oxide in Kitsch Flamingo, Blue Print Sketch, Chipped Sapphire
Memento Dew drops in Grape Jelly, Teal Zeal, Lilac Posies, Danube Blue
Gemini Happy Anniversary Sentiment Die
Papercraft Society Box 53 stamps and die set
Glossy Accents (In the video I used Nuvo Crystal Drops in morning dew, but glossy accents will give a much clearer appearance. I am not overly happy with how mine turned out).
Card Making Instructions:-
Cut a piece of A4 so that it measures 11x7 inch. Score at 2 1/2 , 3 3/4, 7 1/4, 8 1/2 inches. Place a small score or pencil mark at 1 1/4 inch and 9 3/4 inch.
Turn card onto short axis and place a small score or pencil mark at 3 1/2 inch
Using the tiny mark you created at 1 1/4 inch, score diagonal lines to the corner of the second score line (3 3/4 inch line). The centre of the cross should pass through the 2 1/2 score line. Spin your paper 180 degrees and do the same of the other side
You then need to mark from the 1 1/4 mark to the mark you made on the shorter edge and cut away to create your diamond edges. This needs doing on both sides
The vertical lines then need to folded and burnished as mountains and the diagonals as valleys
.
Cut 3 pieces of stamping card. 2 measinuing 2 1/4 x 6 1/2 inch and 1 meassring 6 3/4 x 3 1/4 inch.
On the two smaller pieces you need to mark at 1 1/8th on the short sides and 3 1/4 on the long sides. This is to help create the diamond shape
Cut away and create your diamonds
Using one of the sweets from the papercraft society stamp set and the memento dew drop inks I created my patterned paper. This was done by stamping and masking. This was completed on both diamonds and the larger centre panel
These were then glued onto the card base itself
3 Pieces of glitter card stock were cut to measure 2 1/4 x 6 1/2 inch and marked up in the same way we did to create the diamonds. These were then cut, leaving 3 glittery diamonds. Using the off cuts from the diamonds you can fill the triangle gaps on the card base. These will need about 1/4 inch trimming off the length but the rest of the angle should be correct.
The larger triangle is created by cutting one of the diamonds lengthways down the middle
The Gemini sentiment was used with glitter card and the same blue as the card base
Using the same stamp as we used for the patterned paper I stamped 2 of the sweets onto blue card using the Kitsch Flamingo distress oxide and die cut these out
I die cut a number of hearts from the same papercraft society box onto pale blue card and roughly blended these using blueprint sketch and chipped sapphire
The blue sweets and the sentiment were adhered using foam tape and the hearts with liquid glue. I then used nuvo drops to give a few of the sweets a glossy effect. This did not dry as nicely as glossy accents do so I would not recommend you do this. Either leave without or use glossy accents
